Kukkaisrock was held in the main marketing area of Tampere. It included six bands, and was hosted by Gekko Paavilainen.
See the Spanish, more official, version from La Estadea!!and if you wish, please do continue to read my crazy blabbing from here too. :)
The first band was
Rockwalli - from Tampere. Given their young age, the boys knew how to play and engage
their audience. There were quite many fans that had come to see them play. And I'm not surprised. I've seen them once before myself, and they're really promising bunch. This evening they played really good. Not a bad start.

The band that played
on the second place then, is called Dashbone. If it wasn't for them the whole Kukkaisrock would have been ruled by
men. But Dashbone has a female singer. I’m really hard to please when it comes to female singers, but Tiia was great. I was completely surprised how much I
liked that band - and her voice. I felt nice
listening to them, and was grateful to finally see them play live. I also coughed this bands vocalist
and guitarist in the backstage after the show, and they sent You
their greetings! (Also, check out their FB if interested!)
The Third band to
step on stage was Fumble, a Punkrock band that has done really long
career, and also a comeback after a break. I thought they'd be good, but the performance turned out dull. The only fun part wast their loony guitarist. I found myself clapping my hands to the beat,
but not really following the show. I saw everything else going on in the marketing area, but the show. :/

Taz in the Sky!! |
After Fumble got off
the stage (a relief for me and my friends), us – the viewers – were given a fun surprise. All of
the bands got invited to toast with the host in the Dinner in the Sky. After having their drinks in the 50meters of hight, they landed
safely and got their feet back on the ground again. I coughed up
with Santa Cruz’ drummer Taz, and asked him how was the ride. He
said it was awesome, though he felt like he was still shaking. At
least he wasn’t shaking that much that I would have noticed it! ;)
Then it was
time for Baton Rogue Morgue, a hell shaking rock band from Porvoo, to
steal the stage.
This is a band I really like, but had not seen live
before.
I was sold at the first song, and couldn’t stop smiling. I think
it says something about this performance that the crew taking care of
the sounds wanted BRM to play an encore, though they did not have
time for it. I really wished they’d have time, and I could tell so
did many others. Unfortunately they didn’t have it, but they
promised to get their asses back to Tampere as soon as possible. I’m
holding on to that promise, because the show was completely
marvelous, and I want more!

After Baton Rogue
Morgue got off the stage I went to the backstage area to find their
vocalist Lee Angel Morgue.
I have met Lee twice before, and was sure
I’d get something special for You from him. He was really pleased
to send his greetings, and was excited to hear I’m doing a review
of the evening.
The fifth band was (my beloved) Santa Cruz from Helsinki.

The boys were
rocking the stage really well that evening. These four young rockers truly showed
Tampere that night how hard they can bring it on!! I was really happy to see how
much they gathered crazy rocking viewers with their lively
performance. It was superb!

Taz' set list |
As Santa Cruz’
members were loading their equipment off the stage, their drummer Taz
came to bring his set list to me. I was happily surprised he really
remembered me asking for it after all. Also the bands vocalist Archie
greeted me and my sister while leaving the stage. They all were still
on fire after the intense show, and I could feel it by just looking
at the smiles on their faces. They had spent a great evening, and so
had their audience!
Their energetic
and smiling Glam Rock music and live shows are the real thing, and
their love and passion for what they do shows off every time. This night was no exception.
I had to maintain in the side
of the stage, where I had escaped the heat of the sun. There was no space anywhere else! I knew to wait
many spectators, but this really surprised me. I felt happy for the
band for getting so many viewers at the scene. It must have felt
awesome for them.
I had talked with Pepe a month earlier about the possibility of getting their
set list after the show. He was a little embarrassed when telling me
in his laughter: They have no list! They will just follow Ollis lead. For me it was a little weird, but hey, they knew what
they were doing, and the audience loved it. So no harm was done here.
It was just a hilarious little thing in the middle of the evening. :)

Ahh, Pepe-perfection! <3 |
This day (and night) really took the best of me. It was way too sunny (read: "HOT", because there was very little shade in the marketing area) for my liking. But anyhow, it was a beautiful night. And I really had fun hanging with a bunch of friends, and watching all those bands do their thing...
"It's all good, bro" ;)
